The Katukurunda Parish is in need of a formidable and a consistent team of instructors to conduct the parish program for those who request for Adult Baptism via the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). This team is so vital to keep the Catholic community growing with new members with those properly educated in the faith. Adult Baptisms should not be given hastily simply because of Marriage. The common trend is to get the non-Catholic party Baptized within the shortest possible time simply to get permission to have Holy Mass for one’s Marriage. The purpose of Baptism should not be based on such trivial and superficial reasons. With this rationale, the value and the dignity of the Sacrament of Baptism needs to be upheld at all costs.
With the aim of catechizing those who wish to be Baptized in the Roman Catholic Church in an in-depth systematic way a team of adult volunteers (couples) were chosen to carry out this program twice a year in 2021. They will conduct the individual themes as groups of instructors in covering all four parts of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Anyone who wishes to be a member of the Parish RCIA team is most welcome. All what you need to have as qualification is a basic knowledge of the symbols of the Catholic Creed together with a profound sense of morality and a taste for prayer and contemplation with the desire for the Word of God. Accompanying a non-Catholic into the Catholic faith needs considerable time with close accompaniment. For this reason, the parish RCIA team is vital for the life of the Parish.
