The Purpose of introducing the Daham Pasala Record Book:

  1. The changes in the parish must begin from its foundations which is about the formation and attitudinal changes in the young minds; thus, it contains a long-term program of gradual change and transformation.
  2. Short term results must lead to a sustainable system in the parish based on a consistent culture of correct attitudes and impeccable discipline underpinned by a community orientation which is also the national need of the hour.
  3. If all the areas indicated in the Record Book are given careful and proper attention students attending Daham Pasala will undergo scrutiny resulting in an integral faith formation based on social commitment and depth of spirituality in the long run.
  4. The teacher-student relationship is not limited to an academic one, rather it must go beyond the mind to the level of the heart and the spirit, resulting in a spirituality based on prayer, contemplation, discipline, sharing and service is mutually cultivated.
  5. To change the popular understanding of the Daham Pasala from being a place only to learn theoretical syllabus exam oriented religious knowledge to a place where action-oriented practicing parishioners with a spirit of service and leadership skills are produced.
  6. Daham Pasala is not an academy but an ashram where social and interactive dimensions of doctrine, faith and morals are trained in view of an integral spirituality; rather than mere informing of student minds made fit only to pass exams it is a place of formation.
  7. Katukurunda Parish lacks young lay leadership and needs a new generation that can build up a new team of lay leaders who are willing to give leadership in fostering lay ministries.
  8. To revive the parish lay associations, youth and young adult societies which are currently dysfunctional due to factional discord and communal disharmony; it has resulted in the drastic decline of volunteering young animators who are ready to take up responsibilities.
  9. A secular, consumeristic market culture has led the parents and children to give less but expect more; they fail to give back to the parish their time, talent, and other human resources to organize programs of social benefit.
  10. The Student Record Book if properly implemented can overturn the present decline in the Parish and usher in a new generation of youngsters in the long run who can become a fresh breeze of revival in the parish.
