Technically this is not RCIA in the literal sense of the term, but it is as vital as the first. The aim of this catechesis is to find and bring back the lost sheep or those Catholics who have lost their faith or those who are lukewarm in their faith and practice, rather than working in collaboration with the parish they work against the parish community and the leaders of the parish community. Katukurunda parish is desperately in need of this level catechesis due to the many communal factions and divisions that exists within the parish community. The RCIA regular team can include a special team for this difficult and challenging task. For this very reason it is useful and effective to incorporate the three lay spiritual movements that already exist in the parish namely:

  1. The Dominican Tertiaries
  2. The Kithu Dana Pubuduwa
  3. The Community of the Risen Lord

These three lay spiritual movements in the parish in their own way can help the parish to re-evangelize, heal, and bring back the lost sheep of the Parish community, especially those who have become victims of fundamentalist sects and those who have lost their faith due to family or personal problems such as marriage crises due to relationship issues, addiction, unemployment, domestic violence, parent-children issues etc. for which they have not received any assistance from the parish. This catechesis is not strictly doctrinal but mostly spiritual counselling and constant accompaniment giving spiritual and material support to the needy. This level of catechesis will go hand in hand with the first level of catechesis on Sundays at 9:00 am. Thus, the RCIA will have a two-pronged program of both catechesis and mission towards new converts (missio ad gentes) and towards the lost Christians (missio inter gentes).
