Ordinary Confirmation

Ordinary Confirmation is the Confirmation given to those who have received their Baptism as infants. It is often given in the Parish once in three years or even less depending on the circumstances, by gathering all the young adults enrolling them in a thorough formal and systematic catechism. Most young adults receiving education in a Catholic College, or a Convent receive their Confirmation in school with the explicit consent of the Parish Priest. During this Confirmation service the Diocesan Bishop visits the parish, and it becomes an occasion of great importance and solemnity. The Parish confers Confirmation only to those who will enroll themselves in the Parish Confirmation Training Program conducted by the team of teachers and catechists specially assigned from the Daham Pasala—usually from the grades 9 to 11, and Advanced Level.

The main requirement to receive Confirmation is a positive intent to serve, bear witness and give leadership in an active life of faith and service to the parish community. This is tested and proved by the confirmand in the carrying out of a service project in view of the betterment of the Parish Community.
