When Confirmation is conferred on adults for reasons such as:
- Adult Baptism (RCIA)
- Missing out on the regular opportunity
- Marriage preparation (Pre Cana/PNI)
It is regarded as an extraordinary conferring of the Sacrament when the sacrament has to be conferred for the above reasons. At instances such as these explicit permission from the diocesan bishop is needed. Only then does the bishop delegates his power upon the Parish Priest to confer the sacrament provided the confirmand undergo a thorough systematic period of preparation and prove their positive intent to live a committed active witnessing Christian life on behalf of the community of believers in the Parish. Every aspirant must prove him/herself fit to receive this noble sacrament only by being readily available to serve in the different societies, associations, apostolates and ministries in the Parish.
