The most artistically valuable crucifix is found at St. Joseph Vaz Church, Modera. It is an upright cross carved by the famous Catholic sculptor Mr. Raymond Fernando of Lakshapathiya, Moratuwa. In addition to that large crucifix placed next to the main altar in the sanctuary, on top of the high altar main tabernacle of St. Joseph Vaz, Church, there is a small crucifix placed which is also carved by the same artist-sculptor. In St. Mary’s Church, Katukurunda, there are three crucifixes and two crosses. On top of the high altar main tabernacle is found the center sanctuary cross which is a plaster of Paris common cross. The second largest is a permanently fixed crucifix on the right wall of the right wing of the Church.

The largest crucifix is the cross onto which is fixed the flexible passion statue moved by strings, traditionally used to show the signs of the Seven Last Words of Jesus on the Cross, during the Holy Week/Easter Triduum services. During the off-season, the wooden Statue of the Passion of Our Lord removed from the cross is reposed in the permanent sepulcher style glass display chamber on the left wing of the Church, and its empty giant cross is fixed on to the right-side inner wall near the main door of the nave of the Church. Another wooden cross is found fixed onto the rear wall of the right wing of the Church which is used and carried by the public during the out-door way of the cross traditionally held on Good Friday morning.
